Radon Mitigation

What is radon mitigation?
Radon mitigation is the process of correcting/reducing radon levels in a property.  While the E.P.A. recommends radon mitigation with concentrations of 4.0 pCi/l and above, it is not uncommon to mitigate a property which tested below 4.0 pCi/l.
We have had many clients with children and/or health issues, who have contracted us to mitigate their property anyways, just to be safe.

There are several different types of radon mitigation systems that can be installed.  The type of system that we offer is called “Mechanical Ventilation Pressurization”.  Using a small football sized fan, we are bringing in fresh outside air, and directing it inside, into the return air of your air conditioner.

We do this for two reasons:

  1. The air outside of your home has an extremely low concentration of radon, and bringing this air into your air conditioner dilutes the concentration inside.

  2. The system creates a slight vacuum pressure change in the property, which helps keep the gas from entering.

In single family homes with a garage, we can install the components of the system in the garage attic, and use the garage roof eve as our air intake.  In most condominiums we have to penetrate the exterior stucco wall for our air intake, which requires approval from your condo or home owner’s association.

If you have tested your property, and are considering radon mitigation, and would like a proposal, please feel free to call our office to schedule an estimate at no cost.
